Adelaide jaunt

Hey there.

This is going to be a quick one, so I'll try and make it make sense if you know what I mean.

Jill and I went to Adelaide over the weekend.. left on Fri morning, bright and early and got to Adelaide at about 9:30am.. I don't know what is wrong with Adelaide people, but they all seem to need to wear jumpers/jackets/scarves at all times... I got off the plane and it was a little cold, but by the way the people of Adelaide were dressed you would swear that there was a polar bear army on its way..

Anyway, back to the story. I love Adelaide.. It lies somewhere in between a really big country town and Brisbane.. but it just has streets and streets of restaurants and cafes.. and good shopping to.. last time we went there Jill found and Oroton seconds store and came out with a new bag... and guess what happened this trip.... yeah... nice bag though..

Back to the story again... the point of going to Adelaide was to go t Gareth and Cathy's engagement party and to go to one a separate wedding which happened to be on the same day..in adelaide... how does that work... anyway... good for us.. but bad for Gareth and Cathy... the place they were having their engagement party blew up in the early hours of Tuesday morning... it was in the news but it got shafted by the whole beaconsfield thingo... so they had to organise a new venue in 4 days.. but it turned out quite well..

anyway.... I will continue this story soon... need to go now...

Just finished an exam and I need to kill some time

Well as the title suggests I just had an exam. It was on financial markets. A bit dry but kind of interesting; but then who really wants to know what year the ASX demutualised or what time it went to T+3 settlements..I'm not sure whether I like it or not.. The exam I just came out of was a 90 min, 60 question multiple choice monster.... Thank God it wasn't an essay type exam, I would have been very much in the poo if it hadn't been. I spent a majority of the weekend (which was specifically left empty for study) playing freelancer... It's a good game and while it does involve trading the exam didn't ask where one could get the best price on diamonds in the Sirius System or what freighter offered the greatest yield on investment.

What really didn't help matters, was that instead of studying today I went and played 9 holes of Bolf with the boys (Bolf = beer + golf)..

All in all it was a good day though.. went to work for about 4 hours... all I really did was interview two guys (who made me feel old, will get to this later), respond to about 5 emails and then had a couple of coffees and caught up with a co-worker who has been in Tas for the last couple of weeks on holidays. Then I went home, had lunch, put the clubs in the car (and a couple of pencils to colour in the exam dot sheet thingy) and headed to Victoria Park golf course.. nice day I think. If only they all weren't more like that... more Bolf on Friday though, this time it be for 18 holes of fun and handbrake turns in the buggy.

Anyway, back to these couple of guys making me feel old today... I was reading through their CVs and it had their birth dates... they were born in 88 and I nearly chucked them because I thought they must be at school still or something.. but I did the calc before I tossed them and they were 18.... made me feel like old man winter, even though I'm not that far behind them in the scheme of things... speaking of old, I'm getting too old to be at uni..by far... There are two points I would like to make in relation to this so I might just use some dot points:

--> At the start of this year all the new people were even more obvious than normal because they all looked so fresh faced and innocent... it looked like a school tour through the uni... it was disturbing.. a couple of years ago I couldn't tell the difference...

--> I take a look a a nice girl walking past and she looks like she is about 12... fuck .....

Sweet.. that managed to take up the required amount of time without resorting to making up a poem about glen and his sperm eating tendencies. ..

Dear Lord,

Muhanmmad and me
I honetly don't know whether to be amused or disturbed, I'm leaning towards amused because I'm rather purile at heart.

Have a read anyway...not that many words really, more pics with captions.

Werd to your mother

Hey there. Better grab a snack, this is going to be a long one.

It's been a while... I say that everytime I do a blog, whilst at the same time thinking to update this on a more regular basis. .. oh well.. that's me... lazy and disorganised.

God damn I have been busy for the last three months. I started that new job with another transport company and I have been working some long damn weeks. .. and at Acacia Ridge of all places. God that suburb is a fuckhole. Don't ever go there. EVOR.

The guy that hired me got fired on Friday, which kind of leaves me in an odd position. I was supporting him and the things that he was trying to do and now that he has been given the ass, I'm a bit worried. But I spoke to the old workplace and they said they are more than happy to give me a job back, if things go to the poo. So I guess hooray.

Glen and Roz's wedding was on Saturday. It all seemed to come off pretty cleanly. No fueds were started, all old fueds were laid to rest and everyone wore pants and kept them on. Glen and Roz seemed to have a good time, which is the main thing. Everyone else seemed like they were having a good time as well, but you can never tell at weddings. I remember my wedding, and thinking to myself that everyone looks happy, but that's what people do at a wedding, because they don't want to upset the happy couple.. but that's just my super paranoid mind at work.

I have come to a bit of a decision regarding the direction of my life. I changed jobs because I was bored and I thought that a change was what I needed, but the same things shitted me at the old job shitted me at the new job. Therefore I have come to the conclusion that it is time for a career change, and four years as a hobo at uni. I'm going to try and get into medicine. This means a couple of things for next year.

1. Sit the GAMSAT in March and get a decent mark.
2. Finish the Bach of Bus next year and keep the GPA above 5. This means that I have to do 3 units a semester, plus one this summer semester. This shouldn't be too bad, two are accounting subjects which are always pretty easy and three are finance subjects which are also generally pretty easy. That is if you like number of course. Otherwise you are fucked.
3. Enrol for Med, get to the interview stage, hide psycopathic tendancies from interview panel and get admitted to the course.

So there you go. Dr Matt. In four years. Then after four years at uni, you spend another two years as an intern and then you need to spend at least a year as a resident before you can specialise. Sounds like a long process, but it would be nice to get out of work for four years. I've been working full time since I left school now and I'm pooped and I'm going to be even more pooped after 2006.

I'm waiting on uni results from last semester. I'm not really sure when they come out, so I just keep logging on to see.

Jill's brother is staying with us this week because he is working in Milton for the week. He is a sparky's apprentice. He is also generously giving me $100 for the trouble of accomodating him for the week.

I hired a van the other weekend to move some fridges.. it was a Kia Preggio

Biggest, most badly thought out, gutless peice of crap evor... but it was still cool to drive. Vans have this really cool driving position and I can now understand why bus drives and truck drivers go so crazy over their vehicles. It was just plain odd.

Anyway, that's probably enough for now.. time to go..
